Extracting Oil From Groundnut Locally at Home
Nowadays it is becoming common to learn a few local manufacturing skills, which equip us with different knowledge and skills on how we can manufacture some products locally at home using some local available resources. At this modern time, learning these local skills helps us to lower home spendings on local products and it also offers us an opportunity to start local manufacturing, which could make us able to make a few dollars, which could improve our lives.
This article will give in detail steps that you can use to manufacture groundnut oil at home using local available resources. Before we go into detailed steps, it should be noted that, groundnut oil, which in our case will be locally manufactured, follows extended steps of how we locally manufactured peanut butter. Which means, for us to locally manufacture groundnut oil, we will first undergo a process which locally manufactures home peanut butter.
Steps Required to Locally Manufacture Groundnut Oil
The following are the steps required for you to locally manufacture groundnut oil at home.
Step 1: Gathering of materials
The first step to locally manufacture groundnut oil is to gather our local materials, which will be used in our local manufacturing processes and in this case, we will need the following materials or ingredients; Groundnuts, heat source (could be Charcoal burner), stirring, frying pan, powerful electric blender, basin and salt, among others.
Step 2: Roasting and peeling groundnuts
The second step for us to locally manufacture groundnut oil is to roast the groundnuts in a local frying pan. The purpose of roasting the groundnuts, is to make peeling easier, therefore, make sure you just put the pan on the burning charcoal burner or any related heat source only for a few minutes.
Having finished roasted, allow the groundnuts to cool and then start the peeling process, whereby the outer skin of groundnuts is removed. Once you finish peeling the roasted groundnuts, proceed to step 3.
Step 3: Blending the roasted groundnuts
The third step for us to locally manufacture groundnut oil, is to put our roasted groundnuts and blend, using powerful electric blender. The purpose of blending is to manufacture peanut butter, which will be used to manufacture groundnut oil.
Once you have put roasted groundnuts in a blender, switch it on and allow it to blend for a few minutes until the powder like structure starts to form, then switch it off and add a little salt and turn it on again until porridge like structure has been formed. This porridge like structure is then called locally manufactured peanut butter, which will be used in our next step to manufacture groundnut oil.
Step 4: Extracting oil from peanut butter
The fourth step to locally manufacture groundnut oil, is to extract groundnut oil from home manufactured peanut butter.
Make sure you do the following for us to successfully extract oil from the peanut butter in the above step; First of all, put the peanut butter in a basin. After you have put the peanut butter in a basin, make sure you add 2 cups of hot water and start stirring, keep on stirring and add another cup of cold water and keep on stirring.
While you are still stirring, make sure you add another 2 cups of hot water and maintain stirring, while you are still stirring make sure you add another cup of cold water. Which means, for every 2 cups of hot water we are adding, we add a single cup of cold water, but this also depends on the quantity of peanut we have produced. Assuming, we have produced 20 litters of home peanut, we could be adding 6 cups of hot water and 3 cups of water for every 6 cups of hot water we have added.
Stop stirring when the mixture of water and peanut has become thick, then leave the mixture for a few hours. After a few hours, you will see a mixture of water and groundnut oil on top of the peanut butter, which we are using to extract the oil from.
Once the mixture of water and groundnut oil has come on top, make sure you use a home cup to remove it and put it in a pot, ready for last step which is evaporation process.
Step 5: Separate water from groundnut oil through evaporation
The last step for us to locally manufacture groundnut oil, is to separate a mixture of water and groundnut oil, we have got from step 4. Put a mixture of water and oil in a pot, and then put it on any heat source and this could be a burning charcoal burner. When you are heating, the water will evaporate leaving the groundnut oil in a pot. Make sure you stop heating when you has noticed that all the water has evaporated.
Once you have observed that the water have evaporated, remove the pot and allow the groundnut oil to cool. Once it gets cooled, it is now ready for home use and you can also package it in bottles ready for market, which makes you able to create a local opportunity using a local manufacturing skill you have acquired in this article.
In conclusion, this article has taken a look at steps which can be used to locally manufacture groundnut oil at home. Among others, the article has uncovered that, for us to locally manufacture groundnut oil, we first need to locally manufacture peanut butter, whose steps are similar. The article concludes that, the home peanut butter is used to locally manufacture groundnut oil by adding water, then separating the mixture of water and groundnut oil through evaporation process.
