Rule 1: Buy and raise birds you will manage to handle
As a poultry farmer, you should always ensure you only order the right quantity of birds you can be able to take care of. This is the most important rule of all the time. Keeping more birds, means more feeds and other extra management costs.
It's better to start your poultry production with 150 chickens and be able to feed and provide them with all medication, in all their stages of growth, than to begin with 500 chickens and fail to provide them with enough feeds and other management requirements.

Rule 2: Never borrow money to begin your poultry production business

You should always know that, every change in feed affects your poultry bird negatively first before gradually bringing in the results you don't desire. Rule 6: Always give your poultry birds enough water
You should always make sure that you never let your birds run dry of water. Your poultry birds can survive 48 hours without feeds, but they could die if similar hours they stay without water.
Lack of water in your poultry birds will likely lead to heat stress. Heat stress is caused by lack of enough water in your birds and can wipe your entire flock. Heat stress may also leave your poultry birds vulnerable to all kinds of infections as their immune system gets weakened and may take more than 14 days to fully recover.
Rule 7: Give your birds fresh good water
This rule is a very serious one. You should avoid giving your birds contaminated water as this could lead to diseases. You should always give your birds the water that you could drink yourself. Some farmers make a mistake of taking chickens just animals, and nothing matters.
